  1. NCSA httpd version 0.4 is now available at:

  5. This server has the following features:

  7.     o Directory index support.
  8.     o Access logging.
  9.     o Group annotation server support.
  10.     o Drop-in Gopher replacement support.
  11.     o Simple and lightweight; easy to compile.
  12.     o Clean; returns files without ever mutating their data.
  13.  
  14. Changes from 0.3 include the following:

  16.     o Added annotation server support.  See README.GROUP-ANNOTATIONS.
  17.     o Added access logging capability.
  18.     o Added HTTP/1.0 compatibility (3rd+ args of GET command ignored).
  19.     o Changed handling of full hostnames.
  20.     o Fixed bug with index.html not being recognized unless a trailing
  21.       slash was appended to the directory name.
  22.     o Fixed bug with extraneous null appended to end of file data
  23.       stream.
  24.     o Fixed bug handling directory URL's with trailing slashes.
  25.     o Made a little more Ultrix-friendly.

  27. We recommend that sites currently using version 0.3 of this server
  28. upgrade and encourage people to experiment with the annotation server
  29. support.  As noted in the README, the annotation server support is
  30. purely experimental and may be changed substantially in the future.
